Peter George, co-founder of Wired2Fire, submits a detailed HEXUS.right2reply
Good Evening Paul,
Many thanks to HEXUS for taking the time to run our machines through their paces in this review.
It was mentioned in the review, but I'd like the chance to repeat the point - All the systems we offer are configurable, built from scratch to each customers needs. Peripherals are on offer, whether someone wants a monitor, speakers, keyboard or mouse. This includes some excellent gaming brands like Razer.
Although it is next to impossible to evaluate in a review, I think the customer experience when buying a PC is extremely important. Customer service is something extremely important at Wired2Fire. It sounds like a worn out mantra to many a PC consumer, but I think our approach is far more focused than other companies. From the first point of contact, a customer can expect a fast, honest and informed response to their questions. Care and attention goes on the build, and into the overclocking and testing. Special requests for builds can be easily coped with too. Customer service for Wired2Fire means two things:- Being quickly available to the customer via email or telephone. There are few things more infuriating than not being heard! Second, resolution of problems or enquiries effectively and completely.
Pre-cabling of systems is something we're evaluating again, taking the feedback from HEXUS to look at various chassis (each will vary) and how the cables could be still be secured but positioned for future upgrades. There are elements of 'does it still look neat' and 'is airflow unhindered' to be considered too.
Currently during the build stage if someone wants cabling prepared, for an extra drive for example, this will be done according to their instructions. Having modular power supplies in our systems makes adding extra cables a cinch though. Actually leaving a power cable free for a second graphics card, or hard drive, can create its own problems. It couldn't be left loose to find its way into a fan blade. For this reason every cable is tied securely and neatly.
"The AHCI - not enabled by default." This is feedback we've taken on board and will be actioned in new systems.
"Express gate not enabled". - The use of this is personal preference, and it seems most customers don't use it, but was deemed to slow down the boot significantly. Hence the decision to switch it off.
The CPU speed is disabled. Occasionally on boot the 120mm fans don't spin up quickly enough and this registers a warning. This is switched off because it can be annoying.
HEXUS quite rightly recommends upgrading to 6GB of memory. Since the submission of the two systems for review, triple channel DDR3 memory has significantly dropped in price. So it is well worth choosing the extra boost. I would choose Corsair memory instead though. It offers stability, speed and warranty but is also more price competitive.
