Storage evaluation

Vadim equips the Cetus with a couple of Seagate 7200.10 SATA drives in RAID0, with a further 250GB Western Digital SATA for additional storage.

The comparison machines use single boot drives, hence the impressive sustained read speed from the Seagate pair in the Cetus.

A 150GB WD Raptor, as specced by SCAN, shows its worth in the random access test.

Nothing much wrong with USB2.0 read speed, either. As noted in our observations, we'd have included a third 320GB Seagate as storage. Online pricing shows it to cost around 15 more than the 250GB WD and it's sold with a 5-year guarantee rather than the industry-standard 3.
