Weybridge, October 2008 - Sony today revealed how it is strengthening its position in the display market by consolidating its distribution network.  Midwich the UK's leading specialist distributor of commercial and consumer audio visual products and Imago the Video Communications specialist are to become the primary specialist distributors for Sony in the UK.

Following a review of its strategy for the display market in the UK, Sony is now expanding its team and is creating two specialist dedicated teams to cover IT markets and AV integration.  The IT markets team will be led by Naina Tailor and will focus predominantly on the SMB and education space.  It will be tasked with increasing market share and working closely with Midwich to develop existing and new technologies.

The AV integration team will be led by Michael Smart and will be working with Imago and Midwich plus new specialist distributors Owl Visual, True Colours and Invision UK to focus on the corporate, higher education, leisure, custom install, system integration and rental markets. The key objective within this area is to increase market share in the installation arena along with further developing its digital signage proposition.

Building on its extensive display line-up, which includes its revolutionary 4k display technology, Sony's decision to strengthen its relationships with Midwich and Imago is further evidence of the company's commitment to this sector.  Through Midwich and Imago Sony will be able to ensure the highest possible levels of service and expertise for its customers.

"As customers' needs are becoming increasingly diverse, we have decided to focus on our relationships with our specialist distribution to deliver the highest level of expertise and solutions to end users, their experience, reputation and geographical reach will provide a strong platform for Sony." commented Raj Pandya General Manager for Sony B2B Channels.

"Sony's decision to work closer with Midwich demonstrates its commitment to providing its customers with the highest possible level of customer service and incorporating their requirements into ongoing product development," said Darren Lewitt at Midwich.

"We believe this agreement will add value to Sony's offering and help increase market share in an increasingly competitive sector." Commented Ian Vickerage at Imago.
