AMD doing good for the environment
The US Environmental Protection Agency has awarded AMD with a Climate Leaders award at an EPA conference held yesterday.
Having achieved its goal of reducing its emissions by 53% per manufacturing index between 2002 and 2006, AMD it turns out have been doing something right lately. Furthermore, the California based semiconductor manufacturer has pledged to reduce its global greenhouse gas emissions by 33% per manufacturing index by 2010.
Xerox, winner of the same Climate Leaders award, achieved its 18% reduction in emissions last year and it too pledges to raise that reduction to 25% by 2012.
Unfortunately for AMD, it seems Intel just can't stop raining on its parade as Intel too were praised and became one of six companies to pick up a Water Efficiency Leader award.
Though this little piece of good news might be welcomed by AMD fans, it probably won't do much to quell the fears of AMD shareholders.
