Top of the techs

Techmeme is a semi-automated technology news aggregator. That means it publishes a regularly updated list of what it thinks are the hottest tech news stories of the moment. It's US based and appears to be part algorithm and part editorial.

While certain websites seem to appear on it with unerring regularity, it does provide one perspective on what tech news sites and blogs are writing about. Now it has published the ten stories it thinks got the most attention from tech hacks in 2008.

The number one story isn't that surprising, but some of the other top ten are. We guess this proves that the most read stories aren't necessarily the ‘biggest' ones. There's also a reminder of that the old journalistic maxim: never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Where HEXUS covered the story, we've put a link to it in brackets after the source cited by Techmeme.
