Easy as ABC
BT Vision customers will be able to watch US TV favourites such as Desperate Housewives and Cougar Town via a new ABC TV on demand service launching on 15 September.
The service will offer popular US TV series made by Walt Disney EMEA's TV production arm, ABC Studios, to BT Vision customers, including: Criminal Minds, Brothers & Sisters, Desperate Housewives, Cougar Town and Private Practice, with episodes available after their first UK linear TV airing.
It will also offer past series of the likes of Ugly Betty, Lost and Grey's Anatomy, building on past agreements between the companies. BT already offers on demand services from Discovery, National Geographic and MTV.
Individual episodes will cost 99p and will be available to BT Vision customers who pay £6.99 a month for the TV pack.
"Leveraging this to launch an ABC TV On Demand branded service is a logical next step in our digital distribution strategy," said Catherine Powell, SVP/GM of media distribution, at Walt Disney EMEA.
ABC TV is the first Disney channel on demand launch outside the US, but Apple is reportedly in talks with the firm in a bid to let its Apple TV and device customers have access to the programmes on demand via iTunes for 99 cents a pop.
