BT has inked deals with NBC Universal International Television Distribution and Vertigo to show a handful of films in 3D.

The NBC deal means BT gets all the video on demand rights in the UK to all 3D titles the studio releases over the next 12 months, while Street Dance will also be shown thanks to the Vertigo deal.

Under the terms of the NBC deal, two titles already queued up for BT customers are Step Up 3D, which customers can see from 29 November and the animated Despicable Me, featuring the voices of Steve Carell and Russell Brand, which will be available on BT Vision from 14 March next year.

While pricing of all the films has yet to be released, BT said it will cost viewers £5.99 to watch Street Dance and Step Up in 3D, while both films will be available for £4.99 in HD and £3.99 for SD.

BT Vision promises that viewers with a 3D TV will be able to see different film genres from family favourites to action blockbusters.

Marc Watson, chief exec of BT Vision, said: "We already have an extensive catalogue of more than 500 movies in the UK courtesy of our long-term deals with major Hollywood studios and independents like Vertigo. Now Vision viewers can experience films at home in fantastic 3D, thanks to these new deals. This is just the start of 3D on Vision - viewers can expect to hear much more from us in the coming months."

There are roughly 200,000 BT vision subscribers and this number is slowly dropping. BT would be better advised to improve the service they already have than add more content to a poor system.

Indeed, I have heard quite a few negative comments about the service.
