PRESS RELEASE
Amazon Alexa enables its users to interact with connected devices via voice control, providing a unique smart home experience
London, UK, 21st February 2017 – Netatmo, a revolutionary smart home company developing groundbreaking, intuitive and beautifully-designed connected consumer electronics, announces today the compatibility of its Personal Weather Station and accessories with Amazon Alexa. This new integration showcases Netatmo’s ability to provide an intuitive and customizable Smart Home experience.
Amazon Echo is a hands-free, voice-controlled speaker. It connects to the Alexa voice service - the brain behind Echo - to change the house temperature, play music, provide information and more, instantly. Users just need to say the word “Alexa” and Echo responds immediately.
“Alexa, ask Netatmo what the outside temperature is”
The Personal Weather Station and its accessories offer a complete solution to monitor local climate conditions. It accurately measures household and outdoor environments, including temperature, humidity, air pressure, indoor air pollution, noise level, rain and wind. The Personal Weather Station measures the users’ environment and wirelessly transmits data through Wi-Fi to the Netatmo Weather app. Users have access to all of their data all of the time, via smartphone, tablet or computer.
With Amazon Echo, users can simply ask Alexa for information on any of these conditions, effortlessly and in real time (“Alexa, ask Netatmo what the outside temperature is”). Amazon Echo also integrates with the Weather Station accessories: the Netatmo Rain Gauge, allowing users to monitor rainfall (“Alexa, ask Netatmo how much it has been raining today”) and the Netatmo Wind Gauge, measuring wind speed and direction (“Alexa, ask Netatmo how windy it is outside?”).
“Our customers can now benefit from the convenience of using Amazon Alexa voice-control to improve their comfort at home”, says Fred Potter, Founder and CEO of Netatmo. “Integrating Amazon Alexa demonstrates our ability to provide our customers with the most innovative technologies.”
The Netatmo Weather Station is the company’s second device to integrate with Amazon Alexa, after Netatmo announced the compatibility of its Smart Thermostat with Amazon’s platform in late 2016. The Smart Thermostat allows users to save 37%[1] on energy to heat their home.
Price and availability
The Netatmo Personal Weather Station retails for £139 and is available at John Lewis, Maplin, Argos, Very.co.uk, Amazon.co.uk and Netatmo.com.
Amazon Echo retails for £149.99 and Amazon Echo Dot retails for £49.99. Both are available at www.amazon.co.uk/echo.
