Exceptional Innovation, HP, Intel and Microsoft team up to showcase the digital lifestyle at CES

NextGen home produced by iShow.com and built on grounds of 2006 CES

LAS VEGAS --(Business Wire)-- Jan. 3, 2006 Get a first-hand look at how today's products work together to create a truly comprehensive digital lifestyle for one family in the NextGen home built on the grounds of CES in Las Vegas.

"Providing a sense of a truly integrated, digital lifestyle for different people at different points in their lives takes interaction between powerful, thoughtful products like those you'll see our family using in the home," said Mike Seamons, Vice President of Marketing for Exceptional Innovation, producers of Lifeware home control software and title sponsors of the project along with HP, Intel and Microsoft.

Visitors will see how digital living is interpreted across generations as Grandma, Grandpa, Mom, Dad and the kids use HP Digital Entertainment Centers featuring Intel platforms and Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, connected to HP HDTV displays and Klipsch speaker systems to combine a world of digital entertainment - managing television shows, movies, music, gaming, communications, home videos, photos and more for each family member.

"Microsoft is pleased to be a part of the NextGen Home by working with our partners to showcase how Windows XP Media Center Edition PCs deliver advanced computing plus easy-to-use, integrated digital entertainment," said Dave Mendlen, Director of Windows XP Products at Microsoft. "With Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, customers can enjoy an all-in-one digital entertainment experience that includes the ability to watch, pause and record live television, listen to and purchase music, edit photos, and view videos and on-demand entertainment."

HP Digital Entertainment Centers, Media Center PCs and HDTVs throughout the home demonstrate the variety of ways one family can live, work and play digitally.

"We are extremely pleased to be able to showcase how HP PCs, DECs and HDTVs enable families to enjoy all forms of digital entertainment," said Jan-Luc Blakborn, Director of Digital Entertainment for North America at HP. "HP provides entertainment solutions for the entire family, no matter how technologically savvy they are."

It is also a lifestyle that relies on swift, competent processing of digital content - ably demonstrated in the NextGen home by major sponsor Intel.

"The home really highlights how a full complement of Intel platforms and technologies - including the latest Intel Centrino mobile technology and Intel Viiv technology - are used to make digital entertainment and digital living easier and more enjoyable throughout the home and on the go," said Bill Leszinske, general manager of Intel's Networked Media Platform Group. "No two people, nor homes, are the same, and the NextGen home demonstrates how Intel's various platforms power the great products that enable a truly digital lifestyle."

Exceptional Innovation's Lifeware software seamlessly merges home control with digital entertainment. Lifeware provides complete control of the home's Vantage lighting system, ZON whole house digital audio system, DSC security system, as well as thermostats and cameras, accessed from any HP Digital Entertainment Center or desktop PC with Windows XP Media Center Edition, an Xbox 360 as a Media Center Extender, or from LifeTouch high definition touch panels.

"What really brings the digital lifestyle to the next level is the ability to control the systems you use in your house every day - the lights, the thermostats, the alarms, and so on - as easily as you can manage your digital media," said Seamons. "Lifeware is unique in that it really shows how well-written software can bring these great products together to create seamless and comprehensive control simply and easily."

Attendees will also get a sneak peek at tomorrow's technology, as two areas in the home anticipate the evolution of today's digital lifestyle with Microsoft Windows Vista, small form factor PCs roughly the size of a paperback book that are based on Intel Viiv technology, HP Digital Entertainment Centers and other next generation products set for future release.
