The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee, currently investigating personal Internet security, will next week hear evidence from representatives of the Metropolitan Police and the Serious Organised Crime Agency.Commander Sue Wilkinson, Head of Child Abuse Investigation and Economic and Specialist Crime for the Met and Bill Hughes, Director General of SOCA, will be asked about the level of ‘e-crime’ in the UK and whether the resources and technical skills available to the police and crime fighting agencies are adequate to combat the growth in online fraud and other crime.
The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee have been investigating Personal Internet Security since July 2006 and have heard from a wide of witnesses including Microsoft, e-Bay and bank payments service APACS, as well as various experts in IT security and online child protection
The evidence session will be held at 3:30pm on Wednesday 25 April in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords.
