- 4.9 million people expected to shop online from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day
- 11am-midday on Boxing Day predicted to be the peak shopping time online

Following an exceptional Black Friday period, Currys PC World is predicting that a record number of customers will take advantage of the UK’s biggest electrical sale, with 4.9 million people expected to be surfing the website from Christmas Eve onwards.
With the sale kicking off online from noon on Christmas Eve, Currys PC World is set to see a spike in visits to the website via smartphones as customers hope to snap up the great deals from home. There will be a range of great products on offer from TVs to laptops, with big savings on brands such as LG, Dyson, Sony and Samsung. The sale then begins in-store from 8am on Boxing Day.
2014 saw customers forgoing Christmas Day afternoon snoozing for bargain hunting online, with the peak period at 8-9pm. The next day, the Boxing Day sale brought people to store with the peak sales occurring around the midday rush, peaking at 266,000 sales in one hour.
Gary Booker, Chief Marketing Officer of Dixons Carphone, comments “Black Friday was the starting point of our peak season this year and with 100 large screen TVs selling per minute, shoppers certainly took advantage of the great deals we had on offer.
He continues: “We know though that a lot of our customers will be waiting for the Boxing Day sale to shop for things they need for themselves, rather than just for gifts. And if Black Friday is anything to go by, we’re expecting many of our customers to snap up a bargain online, but we’ll also have plenty in-store for those shoppers who get out and about after Christmas Day.”
