The talk of the town has been how the electronics industry is embracing 3D as the way forward for home entertainment. Sony, not to be outdone at CES 2010, has released a number of televisions and Blu-ray players that support new-fangled 3D.

The BDP-S770, pictured above, is to be made available in summer 2010. It supports Multiview Video Encoding for 3D video, built-in WiFi, DLNA support, and an application that can be downloaded for free from Apple's App store that enables the iPhone and touch to be used as remote controls.

At the cheaper end of the market, sandwiched by the WiFi-supporting BDP-S570, the BDP-S370, successor to the popular S350 (2008) and S360 (2009) players, also supports the funky Apple app but does without 3D or a built-in WiFi adapter (available separately). We expect to see it for around £150 this spring. Let's hope it speeds up the loading of discs, as the '360 and '350 are notoriously slow in this regard.

I don't think 3D will ever kick off until the glasses are gone and away with, We need truely 3D TV's or projectors.
That and all the companies have different ways of doing it, so its going to be years before people know if they made the right decision before buying.
