Any gadget enthusiast can't help but covet the Harmony 900 universal remote launched by Logitech last month, but its £300 price tag means its little more than a pipe dream for most consumers.
Hoping to provide something a little more mainstream, the Swiss manufacturer is following up today with the Logitech Harmony 700 - priced at a far more palatable £99.
Whilst the Harmony 700 can't control as many devices (it's limited to six as opposed to 15 on the Harmony 900), it does provide plenty of useful functionality - including a colour LCD display (sadly not a touchscreen) and one-click control for everyday tasks.
The remote features back-lit, soft-touch buttons and is finished in a finger-print-resistant texture. We're told it'll support over 225,000 devices, and as with other Harmony remotes, it'll connect to a PC via USB to allow for "guided online setup". What's useful is that the USB cable can also be attached to a mains power adaptor for easy recharging of the remote's two NiMh batteries.
At under £100, the Logitech Harmony 700's certainly tempting.
