Viva Las Vegas no more

MSNBC.com reports that rising costs could force the annual Consumer Electronics Show to leave Las Vegas, the city which has hosted the previous 31 CES events.

Speaking to MSNBC, Jason Oxman, chief spokesman for the show’s organiser, the Consumer Electronics Association said "We’ve heard from our attendees, from our exhibitors ... that the rates of hotels during the International CES are increasing out of proportion from what they think it should be".

Organisers claim that hotels are charging quadruple their normal rates during the CES period but fans of the Vegas setup shouldn't worry just yet, the current contract between CES and Las Vegas runs up until 2011.

Will CES then move location? That remains to be seen but I'd better not get my hopes up, I don't think Birmingham will be on the list of nominated cities.

London could be a good idea
If they went to London on cost grounds, something is seriously wrong with their accounting!
