Phishing scam spreads like a virus

A Twitter phishing scam, which first reared its ugly head in the summer, is back with a vengeance trying to steal your password details.

The scam comes in many different forms and attempts to lure you into clicking on the embedded link by playing on your anxiety and curiosity.

If you receive any of these messages on Twitter, even if they're from a trusted friend, do not click on the link.

Current Twitter phishing scams:

Someone said this really bad thing about you…
Why did you post that bad photo of me?…
There is a really bad picture of you in this blog…
Is this you in this blog? …
There is a really bad video of you…
Why did you say that about me in that blog?…

There’s an overwhelming urge to click on links that play on your emotions and many people have already been caught by the scam. When you click on the link you're taken to a fake Twitter log-in page. If you enter your details you’ve given away your login and password to hackers and you will automatically repost the Tweet to all your followers.

If you do get caught out, you should let all your followers know about the scam and warn them not to click on the link. You should also change your Twitter password immediately.

Definitely beware, they are known to even steal some of your “h”s. ;)
Typo noted, superscaper. I've changed the forums but the article itself will have to wait for one of the editorial team. Thanks.
