Frags and fun in the name of charity

We all like helping out our favourite ‘charidee’ but you might find that you’re just that little bit too bone idle to get off yer bum and take part in that 10k ‘fun’ run (how on earth anyone can call running 10 kilometres ‘fun’ is way beyond me). Anyway, now you can do you bit for charity without even breaking a sweat with the Joystick Junkies and Last Man Standing charity frag competitions.

Joystick Junkies have teamed up with tournament organisers Last Man Standing to host Halo 2 matches at the next two Trueplayerz events with Xbox 360s up for grabs thanks to sponsors UK Online

Mark Boadey and Louis Simpson established last Man Standing two years ago with the aim of encouraging competitive game play in the UK. Weekly LMS tournaments are exclusively over Xbox Live and comprise of single player and, soon to be launched, team tournaments. Their tireless work to grow the competitive gaming market in the UK was instrumental in Trueplayerz choosing to work with them to help reach the UK's gaming community.

Commented Chris Birch, event producer for Trueplayerz:

"The guys at Last Man Standing have been really supportive of our previous events. The UK is someway behind the US in developing online and physical events that draw in the gaming fans so we hope that new partnerships like this will help grow the number of gaming events in the UK".

The next Trueplayerz event is this Sunday 23rd October at London's Marquee Club on Leicester Square. See below for detailed information.

Each Trueplayerz event offers everyone the chance to play new games, score great prizes (including ton's of games (from Eidos, Capcom, EA, Atari, Konami, Activision, Madcatz, Saitek, Guillemot, Radica, Midway), two one year 8 Mb broadband accounts from UK Online, two Nokia 6681 phones and four iPod Shuffles) and of course win cash for the charity of their choice!

The unique concept behind Trueplayerz is that the winner of each tournament decides which charity receives the proceeds from the event, it's as simple as that.

The tournament is being played out on four big screens plus there will also be loads of game pods for side tournaments and special events. Players can compete on the autumn's top new releases including Burnout Revenge, FIFA 2006, Battlefield 2 (Modern Combat), Capcom Fighting Jam and now Halo2.

Competitors are assigned an hour during which they play a number of rounds on their chosen game to qualify for the finals. All finalists will play off on a mystery game that changes every month to decide who wins the ultimate Trueplayer.

Players win free games, t-shirts and other prizes throughout the tournament plus we have goodie bags for all players including an exclusive TMF iPod cover so you don't need to be a champion to go home with something.
