Mad Catz Emerges Victorious in World’s Most Renowned Design Competition

Kowloon, Hong Kong – April 8, 2020 – Mad Catz Global Limited, leading gaming hardware innovators for 30 years, announced today that the Red Dot Jury has made its decision: The newly announced Mad Catz R.A.T.8+ ADV emerged victorious from the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2020 and won a Red Dot for its good design quality. This means that Mad Catz is one of the winners in the world’s most renowned design competition.

The R.A.T.8+ ADV is the latest gaming mouse in the Company’s legendary, multi award-winning live of R.A.T. Gaming Mice, favored by the discerning gamer thanks to its unique design, unrivalled adjustability and premium specification.

Expected to be available from June, 2020, the new R.A.T.8+ ADV combines customization with performance. Fully adjustable ergonomics allow gamers to adjust the mouse to their individual preference, with the palm, pinky, and thumb rests, fully adjustable to deliver uncompromised comfort. Embedded within a metallic red chassis, the internal Chameleon RGB Lighting can be configured to display over 16.8 million different colors. Removable weights add another dimension of customization ensuring gamers have the perfectly weighted mouse for sustained gaming sessions. Industry-leading sensors provide extreme precision up to 20,000 DPI/CPI, while premium switches are guaranteed to last up to 60 million clicks. Additionally, a versatile barrel roll scroll wheel and 4-level DPI selector ensures perfect precision. With 11 programmable buttons, and onboard memory to store up to 4 macro profiles, the R.A.T.8+ ADV represents cutting edge design and engineering for competitive gamers.

The Red Dot Award: Product Design offers designers and manufacturers from all over the world a platform for assessing their products. In 2020, designers and companies from 60 countries entered more than 6,500 products in the competition.

The international jury comprises experienced experts from different disciplines and has been convening for around 65 years in order to select the year’s best designs. The adjudication process lasts several days and is based on two essential criteria: The jurors test all of the entries in order to assess not just the aesthetic but also the materials selected, the level of craftsmanship, the surface structure, ergonomics and functionality. After intensive discussions, they make a decision on the design quality of the products. True to the motto “In search of good design and innovation”, only the best designs receive an award.

On 22 June 2020, the Mad Catz R.A.T.8+ ADV will be added to the exhibition “Design on Stage” in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, where all of the award-winning products will be on show. The museum will thus be a hot spot for best-in-class industrial design. From that date, the R.A.T.8+ ADV will also be presented in the online exhibition on the Red Dot website. The Red Dot Design Yearbook 2020/2021 comes out in July 2020.

The R.A.T.8+ is available to purchase now from all leading retailers. The R.A.T.8+ ADV is expected to begin shipping from June 2020.
