Following in the footsteps of AeroSmith, Metallica are the latest band to get their own version of Guitar Hero.

Confirmed via a trailer that appears in the latest iteration of the best-selling franchise, Guitar Hero World Tour, Guitar Hero Metallica will be released in 2009.

You can view the trailer over at Gamespot.

Guitar Hero World Tour was released in the US a couple of days ago and is the first game in the franchise to feature a cooperative band experience that com guitar, a genuine electronic drum kit and a microphone, as well as an innovative Music Studio music creator that lets players compose, record, edit and share their own rock and roll anthems, along with online Band Career and 8-player “Battle of the Bands.”

According to Slashgear though, it may well have some drum sychronisation issues.

Guitar Hero World Tour gets its European release on November 7th.
