Based on its E3 showing this evening, it looks like the Metal Gear Solid franchise is about to change dramatically.

The game footage shown showed a Ninja Gaiden type game with a heavy emphasis on combat and cutting your opponent, and anything else for that matter, into bits.

The tag "lightning bolt action" was used as Raiden ripped through enemies and objects slicing and dicing everything in sight. Choosing the angles to make before attacking he could slicing an enemy apart and rip out his spine with some style.

It looks great, amazing in fact, but how will MGS fans react?

Look out for the trailer online shortly!

Gut reaction: MGS fans will hate it.

I would definitely consider it though, constantly despised MGS4 despite my best attempts to get into it. Was just too heavy going.

Me too. Think it looks great, should be more accessible to the mainstream too.
