Sony have announced a firmware update to the Playstation Portable that will allow the download of video clips through RSS feeds.

The concept of video podcasting has really kicked over the last two years with a whole range of topics on offer, from news sites such as CNN and the BBC to videogame podcasts from the likes of Yahoo. The competition is becoming fierce in podcasting circles as more and more websites jump on board this new craze. This new update from Sony will further open up the trend of podcasting to a new set of viewers, making it more widely available to those seeking a fresh sources of entertainment and creating a new set of amatuer podcasters all eager to video themselves talking crap.

The system software version 2.80 update is currently only available to those in Japan who have the PSP-1000 series.

I just went to yourpsp.com (The U.K. site) which is the official European PSP site and it allowed me to download the V2.8 update with my English 1003 PSP.
