Get fit with the pressure-sensitive Wii Balance Board

The hit combination of Wii Sports and the Wii Remote brought golf swings and tennis serves into people’s homes. Now Nintendo has turned the living room into a fitness center for Japanese gamers who are snapping up copies of Wii Fit and the Wii Balance Board, a title that is due for release in Europe later this year.

Wii Fit was released in Japan on December 1st and Nintendo are today reporting a milestone of 1 million copies sold in the region.

The pressure-sensitive Wii Balance Board is used for an extensive array of fun and dynamic activities, including aerobics, yoga, muscle stretches and games. Many of these activities focus towards providing a "core" workout, a popular exercise method that emphasises slower, controlled motions.

Nintendo are currently on target to reach their forecast of 23 million Wiis sold by the end of its fiscal year, March 31.

Nintendo should have released Wii Fit in the UK this month and capitalised on people's new year resolution to get fit . By the time it does get released, I will have put on another stone and my new year's resolutions will be out of the window.
