There's plenty of pressure on the Wii launch title, Red Steel, to deliver and Ubisoft have been pouring money into the title in the hope of creating the immersive experience that gamers will expect from such a high profile title.
The development costs for the game have apparently reached a whopping 10 million Euros, making Red Steel the most expensive 3rd party launch title for Nintendo's next-gen console.
Red Steel is an exclusive Wii launch title that aims to take full advantage of the console’s innovative controller and will thrust players directly into the action-packed first-person experience with their weapon in their hand – literally. According to Ubisoft's Montreal team, gamers can expect to be play through the katana wielding single player campaign of Red Steel in approximately 13 hours.
Reports from E3 suggested that many people were disappointed with the Wii launch title. Graphically it was impressive, albeit with a few minor problems, such as the sharpness of colours and the lack of detail in places but, it was the game's control system that really let Red Steel down, and in particular the swordplay.
There was still a lot of work to be done and we're sure that some of the cash invested has gone into the redesign of the swordplay and further enhancments to the graphics. Red Steel is still looking like the must-have launch title for Wii .
