Today Microsoft and 343 industries have announced, via the Xbox Wire, that the 'Halo Journey' is set to continue with Halo 5: Guardians. While we learn that the new game will provide the Halo experience that the developers have been dreaming about for over a decade and that it is due in the "fall of 2015," on Xbox One, most of the news is just fluff… However we should learn a lot more about Halo 5: Guardians at an E3 media briefing on 9th June.

Bonnie Ross, General Manager, 343 Industries wrote to say that the development team is very serious in its undertaking to "deliver the Halo game that fans deserve, and a game that is built from the ground up for Xbox One". Also we are promised that the game will run "at 60 frames per second, on dedicated servers, with the scope, features and scale we’ve been dreaming of for more than a decade".

Halo 5: Guardians will make the most of the Xbox One's hardware to present a gaming ecosystem which is truly "worthy of next-gen". 343 Industries learned a lot about technology, aesthetics, performance and scale from Halo 4 and this will be applied and embraced in the new game. As with all previous Halo outings this one is said to be a "massive and exciting project".

As mentioned in the intro we are set to hear and see a lot more about Halo 5: Guardians at the E3 show in June. There will be an Xbox E3 2014 Media Briefing on June 9 containing "much more information," on Halo 5 plans.

Interestingly today's announcement also informs us that the Halo television series, launched in collaboration with Steven Spielberg, will work as both a standalone show and to "complement and enrich the game experience". However, with their autumn 2015 release schedule, the TV show and game are still over two E3 shows away.

Damn…

I guess that means Microsoft are not going to do the XBO/PC releases as this would be the top contender for it…….so no gears of wars for PC again :(

Bring on the hypervisors!
I'm quite surprised by the lack of PC support, I assume it would take little work for the potential benefit of many more sales - especially if more people continue to choose the PS4 over the XBO.
Oh my god, Halo 5 Guardians looks amazing, and I'm loving this new cover art! Massive braingasim!
Darn it I can't wait another year!! Halo is back!
They really should include pc as a platform instead of just pushing xbone. I miss forza lol
Well, seeing as Halo has always been just for Xbox, aside from combat evolved, I see no reason for them to change up now. Besides, combat evolved on PC sucked, and they don't need to screw it up with their latest master piece.
