The end of a long road...
MOH: Vanguard does boast a decent movie-style script, but the dialogue, which has been designed so that soldiers should react naturally to any given scenario, doesn’t always do the job it’s supposed to do, although admittedly there is some witty banter. Occasionally a paratrooper will shout out an enemy position, which is a great help if you don’t know how to use the simple radar that flags up their position anyway, but more often than not you’ll hear the same phrases being repeated over and over
The big problem with Medal of Honour: Vanguard is that the gameplay feels dated, no real thought has gone into the design, and it looks downright shoddy. The title is also available on Wii and it desperately needs a PS3 makeover. On the sheet that we receive from publishers detailing the best features of their game, the only enhancement worth mentioning was the parachuting sequences. The sheet also claimed that the game has ‘stunning graphics’. It doesn’t.
We’d make an educated guess that this will be the end of the Medal of Honor series on PS2, it’s just a shame that’s it’s bowed out looking so tired and shabby.
Pros
If you're a fan, you may still enjoy parts of the game.
Animations are decent.
Cons
Looks awful
Poor map design
It's the final curtain for MOH on the PS2
Buy the Wii version instead, at least the control system will add a new element to the gameplay
