39 per cent of us Brits are now said to own at least one smartphone, but according to a recent uSwitch study we aren't particularly big spenders when it comes to apps.
The impartial comparison website surveyed 1,700 people in February 2013, and found that Brits downloaded on average 29 apps for their smartphone, but paid for just one in ten of them.
According to the study, less than half of the apps we download are used regularly, and only one in seven participants was said to have spent more than £20.

Breaking the survey down into age groups reveals that those aged 55-64 are, it seems, the most frugal, downloading on average the least apps (23) and spending £5.83. In contrast, young adults aged 18-24 download on average 37 apps each and spend almost £15, despite only using 37 per cent of the apps on a regular basis.
