Press Release

Nokia Siemens Networks showcases an array of solutions that underline the company's strong position in the OSS/BSS field and its will to drive the fundamental change in the role of OSS.

At the TeleManagement World (TMW) event in Nice, Nokia Siemens Networks is showcasing its software muscle and its commitment to expanding the role of Operations Support Systems (OSS) from network management to business management. The company believes OSS and Business Support Systems (BSS) have a crucial role in creating efficiency for operations and enabling the new business models.

Nokia Siemens Networks' stand (at booth #94) is the place to meet industry experts and discuss this and other topics ranging from multi-vendor management to convergence and the entire service life-cycle.

"The OSS/BSS industry is converging, and the challenge for service providers is to shorten the time between the services introduction to the mass market take off across different consumer segments while managing fragmented OSS and BSS solutions that limit the business flexibility," says Christian Fredrikson, Head of Operations and Business Software, Nokia Siemens Networks. "We believe that streamlined OSS and BSS have a crucial role in creating the efficiency in operations, enabling flexible realization of new business models, introducing attractive services, managing the end-user experience as well as ensuring the revenue collection."

Headlining Nokia Siemens Networks' presence at TMW is the joint collaboration announcement with Cisco on the OSS platform development. A joint demonstration of Cisco's Active Network Abstraction (ANA) management solution and Nokia Siemens Networks' Nokia NetAct network and service management system is the first proof point of the collaboration between the two companies. The companies demonstrate a concept of how one single system can provision and assure combined radio and core network.

Other Nokia Siemens Networks solutions on display include:

• Open EMS Suite (OES) by Nokia, a common middleware platform and tool for the OSS industry to address R&D OPEX and time to market pressures in helping operators lower the systems integration cost of their OSS/BSS.

• Fit for Business tool, a demonstration on how service providers can check the pulse of their business, and benefit from the knowledge packed into the portal of benchmarking and modeling tools.

• Inventory Management Solution, a common data source for organizational and business needs that provides an end-to-end connectivity view for all business processes, tools to maintaining high information quality, easy access and views to applications, and links to existing inventories.

• Optimizing the Quality of Services, a demonstration on how NetAct product family provides a unique solution for analyzing and optimizing the Quality of Services. The NetAct solution is fast, flexible and safe: the same information can be shared between the tools, different roles in an operator's organization are supported, and the in-built intelligence in the tools help to minimize errors.

Nokia Siemens Networks is also present at TMW via the Co-operative OSS Project (CO-OP), an initiative formed by major network equipment providers to empower the implementation of common architecture for mobile network management. CO-OP has live demonstrations at stand #165/166 in TMW.

Nokia Siemens Networks will be sponsoring the main networking event for all conference attendees, to be held at Parc Phoenix, one of Europe's largest atriums, on May 22.

Nokia Siemens Networks has clear understanding of service provider processes and business process automation, proven by 600 network management customers and 280 service management installations in 150 countries.
