Archos has revealed a sneak peek of its new range of connected-home and wearable tech products in the run-up to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January. The company has published a fully packed press release with details of its new range of ‘Connected Objects’ and a range of supporting apps, aiming to achieve total household connectivity .
The products to be introduced include gadgets categorised under the 'connected home' such as a home camera, motion ball, movement tag and a Weather Station. These products will communicate with the upcoming 7-inch Archos Smart Home Android tablet as it will come with a complimentary Smart Home app, allowing users to manage the products above.
A selection of smartwatches starting at less than £50 and other products including a Connected Scale, Activity Tracker and a Blood Pressure Monitor are also introduced as part of a 'connected self' initiative. All products will be unveiled at the Las Vegas tradeshow next month.
“Mobile devices have become the centre of our life and our demand for instant access to information creates the need for even more interconnectivity,” says CEO of ARCHOS Loic Poirier in a statement. “Archos’ new lineup of connected objects exemplifies the ability to share and access information and represents our vision of creating a universe where all devices complement and work together.”
Archos' new range of smartwatches featuring Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity and a “pebble-like” design are said to be compatible with both Android and iOS devices. Engadget has reported that the term may refer to the use of an e-ink or a similar display. But to know what exactly Archos will be releasing and more information on pricing, we will have to wait and see what is presented at the CES shortly.
