Prolific pre-launch smartphone leak source @evleaks has sprung another one. Today it revealed a full face press-shot of the HTC One. This is a smartphone that is likely to be the new HTC flagship Android handset. A couple of days previously @evleaks revealed that the HTC smartphone previously known under the codename M7 would be known simply as the HTC One when it hits the market. Then on Saturday a photo was published on Flikr apparently taken by the HTC One.
Firstly, looking at the hardware, you can see the device has a thin bezel at the sides giving it an elongated profile similar to the iPhone 5 rather than other Android flagships from rivals LG, Sony and Samsung. The capacitive buttons seem to be limited to the back and the home button positioned either side of the HTC logo. Also on the front you can see the front-facing camera, two small pin-hole sized sensors and two large speaker grilles.

Secondly, looking at the screenshot, we can see the HTC Sense 5.0 UI. This shows a flat look, perhaps influenced by Microsoft’s recent modern UI styling. The panel like arrangement of the main part of the display showing photos from FaceBook also reminds me of the Microsoft People hub from Windows Phone.
The rumoured specs of the HTC One are as follows:
- 4.7-inch 1080p display, 468 ppi
- 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor
- 2GB RAM
- LTE support and 802.11 ac wireless
- 4.3 ultrapixel rear camera with f2.0 aperture
- 2300mAh battery
- Android 4.2 with Sense 5.0 UI
Those are all the specs I could rustle up for the HTC M7/One today. Smartphone enthusiasts probably won’t have to wait for too long to clasp their eyes on the real thing though as HTC is holding a special event on Tuesday 19th February in London and New York. That’s nearly a whole week before the kick off of the MWC 2013. TechCrunch suggests HTC is “pushing out its big news ahead of the scrum... arguably, the best way to stand out from the crowd is to avoid the crowd entirely”. We have seen more and more of these single-company events recently, probably for this very reason.
