The coating repels water explains Liquipel President Danny McPhail, who demonstrated the proprietary nanotech coating by dipping an iPod into a glass of water and demonstrating that it still works.
The company has also released a short promotional video, showing an iPhone getting a soaking.
Liquipel plans to charge $59 to coat your smartphone and says that it is in close collaboration with some device makers to make waterproof devices standard in the future.
The patent-pending waterproof coating is said to be so small that “you’d need a powerful microscope to detect the nano-sized armor.”
