LONDON, UK-JANUARY 24, 2003-AMD (NYSE:AMD) today announced that PCs based on the AMD Athlon(tm) XP processor 2100+ will power the PC gaming tournament on CiTV's new weekly video game programme. Currently airing on Friday afternoons, the "Lan Jam" show presents many aspects of gaming, including reviews of the latest game releases on different systems, and live competitions. The PC round of the gaming tournament will pit Britain's finest young gamers against each other in a competition to find the ultimate cyber-athlete. The tournament will be played on a networked system powered by multiple AMD Athlon XP processors, delivering the right mix of performance, stability and reliability required for resource-hungry online video games.

"Gamers understand that performance is more than megahertz. AMD processors have long been a favorite platform to bring the best possible online gaming experience to performance-hungry gamers," said Robert Stead, director of European marketing, AMD. "The AMD Athlon XP processor gives them the level of performance they demand to run the latest games. Now Lan Jam will bring the excitement of multiplayer video gaming to a new generation."

"We are very pleased to power our gaming tournament with AMD Athlon XP processors. This is a natural fit, because hard core gamers love AMD processors," said Myke Crosby, executive producer at Prism Entertainment, the production company of Lan Jam. "The improvements in PC technology now make it possible for the playing of video games to be a visually exciting experience for TV viewers as well as the players. The clarity of images, movement and graphics now transfer to the TV screen with outstanding visual quality."
