GlacialTech has today officially announced its Igloo 5610 Plus series of CPU coolers, first seen by HEXUS back at CeBIT '09.

Described to us by GlacialTech as budget parts that are becoming increasingly relevant, the all-new Igloo series - comprising of the dual-fan Igloo 5610 Plus Silent and single-fan Igloo 5610 Plus PWM - will offer support for Intel sockets LGA775 and LGA1366, as well as AMD AM2.

Featuring a pair of sintered heatpipes with nickel coating, aluminium fins and a copper base, the coolers are said to offer a cost effective means to keeping your processor cool - with GlacialTech claiming the Igloo 5610 Plus PWM can outperform Intel's reference Core i7 cooler by around 5°C.

The key ingredient here, however, isn't performance - it's price. GlacialTech reckons the Silent and PWM versions will reach retail priced at around $14 and $12, respectively. Interested? Here's the complete specification:

At only 5 degrees below stock cooling it's not exactly going to be the overclocker's choice, no matter cheap it is… In fact, there's almost no point ‘upgrading’ from the stock cooler to this, as it's not even very quiet… Might be worth a look if you're after a cheap i7 build and you've bought an OEM chip though, possibly?
