LG has refined its eminently portable Gram range of laptops, ready for CES 2020 (7th - 10th January). The new super slim and light machines will come packing 10th Gen Intel Core CPUs with Iris Plus graphics, as well as niceties such as larger batteries, Wi-Fi 6, and premium display panels.

The flagship LG Gram 17 has already won a CES 2020 Innovation Award and LG calls it "the ultimate solution for anyone looking for maximum productivity in a portable form factor". This larger laptop features a 17-inch Wide Quad Extended Graphics Array (WQXGA) 16:10 IPS display with sRGB >96 per cent.

Inside the slim chassis you can opt for your choice of 10th Gen Intel Core CPUs with Iris Plus graphics, up to 24GB of DDR4 3200 RAM (1 stick on board, one slot for user), various storage permutations thanks to dual NVME M.2 SSD slots, Wi-Fi 6, DTS X Ultra audio, and an 80Wh battery.

From the outside you can see Thunderbolt 3 (USB Type-C), USB 3.1 x 3, HDMI, microSD/UFS, DC-In, HP/Mic Out (Combo) ports, and a fingerprint reader is installed on the backlit keyboard deck and doubles as the power button. However, the key physical qualities of this Military Standard 810G Compliant portable PC is its weight - at just 1350g, and its dimensions - which are 380.6 x 262.6 x 17.4mm. Compare that to the last 17-inch laptop reviewed by HEXUS, the Gigabyte Aero 17 HDR, which weighed in at 2.5kg and measured 396mm x 270mm x 21.4mm (yes, the Aero is a powerful gaming laptop, but is one of the slimmest and lightest 17-inchers in that category).

The refreshed LG Gram lineup includes the 15-inch 15Z90N, and 14-inch 14Z90N with similar power-plant updates to the larger model. However these feature FHD screens (still using IPS tech with sRGB >96 per cent). Lastly there is an update to the 14-inch convertible model, which features an FHD IPS touch screen protected by Gorilla Glass 6, as well as the Intel processor updates.

LG hasn't provided availability and pricing indications as yet. Expect further info at the CES in January.

Shame they are still only offering integrated graphics.

If Razer can offer a discrete GPU in a 13" thin laptop, surely someone else can do so!
This product will be popular in the top list for creators & designers, if LG makes it better:
1. PWM Free, 3K or 4K Matte screen with 120Hz
2. 2nd GPU MX250 or higher
3. Speakers on the top (L-R next to keyboard)
4. Full SD card slot
5. Separate Power Button with Fingerprint Reader (Huawei MateBook version is the best)
Then we can talk about buy it
Anyone able to report good long-term reliability with the prior LG Gram iterations please - given the expense?
This new model sounds ideal for me as I use a cloud-gaming-pc meaning the iGPU is finally a non-issue!
