Asus RoG unveiled the Swift PG35VQ curved gaming monitor back at Computex 2017. Eager PC gamers have been waiting for it, some more patiently than others, ever since. The attractions are obvious; the PG35VQ offers HDR visuals, good colour accuracy, an overclockable 200Hz refresh rate, 4ms response time, 512 zone FALD, with peak 1000nits brightness, a built-in headphone amp, Aura Sync lighting, and more. Moreover, since Nvidia re-jigged its certifications the monitor has gained G-Sync Ultimate branding. Before we go on, it might be worth mentioning the Asus RoG Swift PG35VQ has an MSRP of £2,699.
The PG35VQ utilises a 1800R curved 35-inch VA display panel with 3440 x 1440 pixels powered by Quantum Dot technology. Asus says that it offers 90 per cent DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage, plus a peak brightness of 10000cd/m2, and contrast ratio of 2500:1. This flicker-free minimal bezel monitor has a full array local dimming (FALD) backlight with 512 zones, to improve contrast much further. The 10-bit wide-viewing-angle panel is flicker-free and offers low blue light modes too.
In terms of performance this G-Sync Ultimate gaming monitor can be overclocked to a max of 200Hz. The monitor's response time is quoted as being 4ms (grey to grey). Gamers may also appreciate the six Asus GameVisual modes on offer (Scenery / Racing / Cinema / RTS / RPG / FPS / sRGB).
With a monitor in this price bracket you can expect some further refinements. For one the RoG Swift PG35VQ is said to be the first Asus monitor to feature Aura Sync. Secondly it includes a 3.5mm Mini-Jack with built-in ESS Sabre Hi-Fi DAC. Another nicety is the adjustable stand which offers swivel of +35°~-35°, height adjustment of 0~110mm, or can be replaced with a 100x100mm VESA stand of your own choice.
Asus has fitted this monitor with HDMI(v2.0), DisplayPort 1.4 ports, with cables for both included in the box alongside the power adaptor, colour calibration report, LED light covers, and a USB 3.0 cable. I don't know what the USB cable is for as the specs don't mention any kind of USB connectivity or that there is a hub.
Asus has told HEXUS that the RoG Swift PG35VQ is available now for pre-order at various resellers in the UK with "units expected shortly". Its MSRP is a hefty £2,699.
