A new Kickstarter project called Sliden'Joy wants your backing so that it can manufacture and market its laptop multi-monitor accessory products. Sliden'Joy allows laptop users to extend their view using one or two extra screens in a variety of sizes to match their existing screens. It can extend either/both sides of your laptop display to broaden your view and also rotate via hinges to share a mirrored screen image of what you are watching or doing.

It is claimed that Sliden'Joy is thin and light and easy to use. It utilises USB to connect and power the additional display(s). It is magnetically connected to the back of your laptop and the extra display panels are contained within to slide out as and when required. The product is compatible with both PC and Mac.

Sliden'Joy is expected to be attractive to developers, photographers and designers who need screen real estate combined with portability. The designers have though through a multitude of applications where the Sliden'Joy can be made use of by a single user or in groups and meetings. Its detachability makes it even more flexible.

The three sizes being made available are 13, 15 and 17-inch. Sliden'Joy are making the product in a multitude of colours and finishes so one should match or compliment your laptop. The cheapest system available via Kickstarter is €199 for a single screen Sliden'Joy with dual-screen options starting at €299.

Beyond the scope of the current project there are a number of extra features being designed to expand the possibilities offered by Sliden'Joy. The developers say they are seeking to implement; triple extension screens, Sliden'Joy for desktops, touchscreens, integrated batteries, Linux support and support for gamers.

The Kickstarter campaign has been live since Monday but has already achieved over €60,000 in funding with a goal of €300,000 needing to be reached over the next 32 days for campaign success.

Heck, get me one of these that attaches to a Keyboard and a long cable to connect to the PCs HDMI Miniport and I'll order!

Gamers are not forgotten. However, new games are needing so much performances, that we need to adapt Sliden'Joy to give perfect results for your best comfort.
No laptop? We're almost ready with our solution for your desktop !

Perhaps my dream of a PC powered laptop for Sofa gaming is just around the corner afterall.
Who are all these rich people who fund these Kickstarter projects?
People like you or me certainly don't dish out a dime

Then there's more than one of us :-)

I've been past eGPU (almost perfect - but bandwidth starved beyond GTX560ti and thunderbolt slow off the ground) and settled on Steam in-home streaming (higher latency, but for sofa gaming is OK).

But yeah - a “dumb” laptop that just drives its screen over HDMI and sends its keyboard and trackpoint back over USB is what I really want.

You don't have to be rich, you just have to trust. Beyond the minimal values, a pledge to a kickstarter project gets you a product, not just a warm, fuzzy feeling. One thing that makes these different from normal buying is that “gets you a product” may also be rather fuzzy.
