Razer showed off some pretty cool new toys at this year's CES, but we didn't see the peripheral-maker's new Ferox speakers. Of course, they might have been there, but they're so small we probably would have walked straight past them.
Rather than the company's traditional reserve of desktop PCs, these speakers are designed for gaming on the go, a fact that is clear from their diminutive footprint. Each speaker comes in a package that's only 7cm x 7cm and just 6.4cm tall.
Despite the dimensions, the manufacturer has still managed to cram quite a lot in. The 30mm neodymium drivers - which are rated at 3W each - might not be the most powerful in the world, but they should still be a sizable step up from the speakers built into a laptop or other mobile device. Razer has also managed to squeeze in a 470mAh rechargeable battery, which should be good for about 12 hours of playtime before it needs topping up over USB.
The creators claim that the speakers are designed to give a 360 degree sound stage, expanded base courtesy of a larger resonance chamber and distortion free audio thanks to the digital amp. How much any of this helps isn't clear, but the marketers claim that the speakers are 'tiny but mighty' and deliver sound that 'belies their size'.
The Ferox speakers are available now firectly from the Razer website for €59.99, which works out to around £52.
