Thecus will be introducing a new 'budget' NAS box during COMPUTEX this year, but we got a sneak peek at it on the stand at CeBIT 2009.

Lined up next to a BlackBerry Curve to illustrate the diminutive size, the N0204 miniNAS has been designed to accommodate two 2.5in drives.

RAID0, 1, and JBOD are supported, as are the usual multimedia support by way of an iTunes and media server, and the unit provides hot-swap capability as well as Gigabit Ethernet - so pretty much all the features you'd expect in a basic NAS box. Power consumption, too, should be good, thanks to the use of a low-power Oxford Semiconductor chip.

SSD support hasn't been validated yet and we're entirely unsure that the mauve colour will work, but the first public showing of the fanless N0204 makes us want one - if the price is right. Under £100 and it may well appeal to a broad section of folks.
