RAIDON has today launched a new line of GearRAID multi-bay storage devices aimed at providing office or workstation users with a comprehensive data storage solution.

The new range, consisting of the two-bay GR3630 and four-bay GT5630/GR5630, features an all-new "Piano Varnish" finish that's a whole lot easier on the eye than the previous SR-series.

All three offer hot-swappable 3.5in drive bays, each supporting drives up to 2TB in capacity, and feature a built-in alarm to notify users of hard drive failure, fan failure or high operating temperatures.

The two-bay GR3630 features RAID 1 functionality, ensuring valuable data is mirrored across both drives. The unit features USB and eSATA connectivity, and is kept cool by a single 6cm fan.

The GT5630, dubbed as a budget solution, offers only a JBOD configuration, allowing for a four-disk array of up to 8TB of storage.

The larger GR5630, meanwhile, includes an Oxford 936QS chip that facilitates RAID 5 functionality - allowing for data protection against the loss of any one disk. Connectivity options come in the form of USB, eSATA and FireWire800.

RAIDON describes the units as "cost-effective" solutions for the workplace, but there's no concrete word on pricing or availability yet.
