Buffalo has launched its MiniStation Extreme, available in 500GB and 1TB varieties, with a choice of either piano-black, silver, or red colour options.

Featuring 256-bit AES Full Disk Encryption (FDE), the MiniStation Extreme utilises USB 3.0 connectivity to deliver theoretical data transfer speeds of up to 5Gbps, positioning it as an ideal solution for storing and transferring data-intensive content.

Enclosed in a highly shock-resistant chassis, it's kitted-out with an integrated USB cable, and we're told that the MiniStation Extreme has passed free-fall drop tests of up to 2.3m. Additionally, it's declared that the unit's shock protection features meet U.S. Military Standard MIL-STD-810F 516.5 Procedure IV.

Paul Hudson, Sales Director for Northern Europe at Buffalo Technology, commented: "The MiniStation Extreme is a prime example of Buffalo's commitment to product innovation. This latest addition to the MiniStation family is ideal for globetrotters who travel with their PCs and portable HDDs and demand a robust, fast and secure high performance portable storage device. The MiniStation Extreme can withstand free-fall drops of up to 2.3m making it the most robust MiniStation ever."
