A new series of flash drives from Japan has both full sized USB and micro-USB connectors. This two ended solution offers convenience to users without easy to lose dongles and adapters. The Sanwa 600-GUSD series is great for storage and backup of docs on both your Android smartphone and PC/Mac.
Google made it easy for Android device owners to use external USB storage a while back; on smartphones running Gingerbread or better and on tablets running Honeycomb or better. Now there’s a new USB thumb drive on the market that offers the convenience of both a micro-USB and a full sized USB connector. Use it to copy files to and from your PC then simply flip it and do the same on your Android device, very intuitive. The thumb drive has caps, which as usual can be lost if you are unlucky or careless, but there are no little adaptors to lose and render it useless connectivity-wise.
The Sanwa 600-GUSD series has another little convenience up its sleeve. The thumb drive has a micro-SD slot built into the full-sized USB plug. This offers both extra capacity and extra transfer options.
At the time of writing this innovative little thumb drive isn’t listed anywhere in the UK for sale but it and/or similar drives are bound to arrive shortly on our shores or be orderable via the internet. This Sanwa 600-GUSD series drive is only available in relatively low capacities in Japan; a 4GB and an 8GB version are listed. Transfer speed spec isn’t indicated and I don’t like the look of the construction in this example so it would be nice to see a similar idea implemented by the likes of Transcend or Kingston.
