SanDisk has introduced a new range of USB 3.0 ultra-compact flash drives called the Ultra Fit range. These drives are said to deliver "exceptional performance in a tiny form factor". The drive's extreme compactness raises barely a bump on the side of your device when you insert it into a USB socket, in fact SanDisk says that an Ultra Fit flash drive is "so small you hardly know it's there".

Philippe Willams, director of product marketing at SanDisk, talked about the utility value of this new range of drives, "While there are other USB 3.0 products on the market, SanDisk's Ultra Fit USB 3.0 Flash Drive offers consumers superior performance and impressive capacity in an extremely compact design." The dimensions of the product are as follows: 19.1 x 15.9 x 8.8mm; 0.75 x 0.63 x 0.35-inches (LxWxH) – without cap.

SanDisk's new Ultra Fit range is the USB 3.0 enabled successor to the firm's USB 2.0 Cruzer Fit range. The Cruzer Fit drives were popular and pioneered the 'plug and stay' category. Of course the new faster USB 3.0 devices should be even more popular, with the boost in transfer speeds that users can enjoy. SanDisk suggests the Ultra Fit drives are ideal for use with notebooks, tablets, TVs, gaming consoles and car audio systems.

The compact size of the SanDisk Ultra Fit hasn't hindered its performance. All three capacities on offer, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, are said to be capable of providing data read speeds of 130MB/s. However there are some performance differences in write speeds between the drives of different capacities. The 16GB drive is capable of 20MB/s write speeds while the 32GB and 64GB drives can write data at up to 40MB/s (via USB 3.0 connections).

As usual with SanDisk flash memory retail products, buyers will get free SanDisk SecureAccess encryption software and a year's subscription to RescuePRO file recovery and undeletion software. The SanDisk Ultra Fit drives are available to buy now. I have seen them on Amazon.co.uk, for example, where a 32GB drive is listed at £23.80.

You can tell that's not a real laptop, as it's got 4 USB ports and they are all sensibly spaced out.
Excellent I have been looking for a replacement flash drive, and Amazon's price has dropped by £1 since this was written !
I've given up on Flash drives, I lose then more often than not. Pretty much made redundant for my purposes with a fast fibre connection.
Nice for a VM install drive, wish my NL54 was USB3!
I've been looking for a small quick and stylish USB 3 to fit on my keys for ages… this looks like it fits the bill!
