Performance

Our high-end test platform feels right at home in the Dark Base Pro 900's cavernous interior. The overclocked Core i5-3570K has no trouble keeping cool under full load on a reasonably warm summer's day.

The dual GeForce GTX 970 graphics cards tend to present a bigger challenge, with many a chassis struggling to keep our duo from hitting 80ºC when gaming. be quiet!'s Dark Base Pro 900 manages to impress, with the dual 140mm intakes evidently providing a healthy supply of clean air. GPU temperature topped out at a better-than-average 78ºC.

Cooling powerful components is easy. Doing it while making hardly any noise is the real trick, and this is where the Dark Base Pro 900 starts to prove its worth. The swathes of sound-dampening material, rubber-mounting points and rubberised feet come together with the high-quality PWM fans to deliver whisper-quiet operation. You can barely tell the PC is on when idle, and the chassis does a great job of masking noise output while gaming.
