Conclusion
So what about the kit overall? I used to run a self assembled watercooling system and while it was a lot of fun to setup and run, I have to say I enjoyed the simplicity of hooking up the QuietPower hardware to my system. Attaching a pair of waterblocks is something anyone can do and shouldn't be scared of. Water and PC's really do go together if done properly and it's done properly here.Performance was excellent, a marked improvement over my air cooling endeavours. My 24/7 running speed increased to a shade under 3GHz too, something my air cooler couldn't cope with. What hits you is how quiet it is, especially over a system running any decent amount of case fans.
I was loathe to go back to my current cooling and case but that's precisely what made me go back, the case. While it's functional and well screwed together and of course well integrated with Swiftech's cooling hardware, it's not aesthetic. This isn't a problem for many and I accept that. If what your case looks like isn't an issue then great. But I'm used to my Lian Li and I can't change that.
So the cooling appeals very much, the case could be better.
I'm back to wanting a good watercooling solution since it's better than you can ever hope to expect from air, even noisy air (think focussed flow Delta fan here) and of course that leads on to the noise aspect. Near silence, no more than a quiet waft from the fans and I think I'm going to persue watercooling again in my Lian Li.
Price wise, it will work out at around £250 for this configuration (one MCW462-U and one MCW40) for UK buyers which is fairly pricy but considering the ease of use and the performance is pretty decent (you get the case too).
I recommend it if your ears tell you your PC is too loud and you want to increase your CPU speed into the bargain.
It's not for everyone and you'll know straight away if it is. It is for me, just in a different configuration. I'll stick to Swiftech's waterblocks for my project too, I can't say fairer than that.
