Conclusion
...custom-cooled cards that have traditionally proven popular are at risk of being overshadowed by the super-sleek Founders Edition. After years of minimal friction, Nvidia's partners are now facing irritation on two fronts. Firstly, there's renewed competition from the latest Radeon GPUs, and secondly, custom-cooled cards that have traditionally proven popular are at risk of being overshadowed by the super-sleek Founders Edition.
Such caveats put the likes of Palit's RTX 2080 Super White GameRock Premium in a precarious position. Finished in white, factory overclocked, RGB illuminated and equipped with a 0dB dual-BIOS, the card carries all the hallmarks of a competent custom board well suited to a themed build.
There's not a lot more Palit can do, but Nvidia's Founders Edition cooler has improved with each new iteration, and the cooling advantage of bulkier boards is now less clear cut. Add to that a buy-in price that we're told gives partners little room to manoeuvre, and there's every reason for the likes of Palit to feel somewhat aggrieved.
Bottom line: RTX 2080 Super WGRP is a solid performer with decent overclocking headroom, and it appeals to those few who've been wishing the RTX 2080 Super came in white.
The Good The Bad Well suited to a snow-white build
Excellent performance at QHD
Decent overclocking potential
Dual BIOS with 0dB Pricey at £750
Not as sleek as Founders Edition
Only a modest upgrade over RTX 2080
