Conclusion
...the high core and memory frequencies make it almost as fast as a GTX 780 Ti and, on balance, quicker than the pricier Radeon R9 290X.Value for money is rarely applicable to the very best components in a category. Graphics cards are no different, with the GTX 780 Ti fetching over £500 at retail. Partner cards, overclocked to the hilt, can command over £600.
This is why it often makes a lot more sense to take a step back and look at the second- or third-rung cards from either Nvidia or AMD. The GeForce GTX 780 falls into this category and is available for under £400.
Spending more, £420 to be precise, brings Inno3D's iChiLL GTX 780 HerculeZ X3 Ultra to the fore. Outfitted with the most monstrous cooling contraption we've seen to date - one that does its job very well - the high core and memory frequencies make it almost as fast as a GTX 780 Ti and, on balance, quicker than the pricier Radeon R9 290X.
The GeForce GTX 780 still makes sense if overclocked and priced correctly. Inno3D does both of these things well with its behemoth of a card. Arguably the best enthusiast card in its class.
