Conclusion

...a full Windows 10 experience in an ultra-thin, highly portable form factor that looks and feels more expensive than it is.

The Asus UX305CA is a very likeable laptop that doesn't break the bank. Currently available for under £600, this 13.3in machine offers a full Windows 10 experience in an ultra-thin, highly-portable form factor that looks and feels more expensive than it is.

Would-be buyers need only approach the system with balanced expectations and an understanding of its limitations. Battery life is reasonable but not exemplary, mod-cons such as a touchscreen, backlit keys and USB Type-C aren't present, and if you're wanting desktop-like performance, well, the underlying Core m3-6Y30 processor isn't the right choice for you.

If none of the aforementioned are a genuine concern, the UX305CA has the makings of a very competent solution. Performance is nippy during everyday usage, the high-res display offers great clarity, the keyboard is comfortable and despite a super-svelte profile, connectivity options include three USB 3.0 ports and micro-HDMI out. Add to that a completely fanless design and you have a workmanlike laptop that's ideal for those who aren't enamoured by tablets.

Always loves UX series but lacking backlit and Type-C is inexcusable for ultrabook released in late 2016.
I was temped by this cos it looks so nice and is very portable but at that price I'd rather pick something more powerful even if I sacrifice some of the mobility.
Can you publish the power consumption for typical use cases like just browsing the internet ? Better still, typical consumption for the other models in the comparison list.

Are you able to add the Dell XPS 13 for comparison ?
