Conclusion

There's more storage, more lighting, more audio, and more enthusiast-friendly features such as onboard buttons.

We're often asked why should an enthusiast consider motherboards that are oftentimes £100 more than the basic model when most of the goodness emanates from the chipset.

Good question, and Gigabyte, who now brands its premium boards as Aorus, sets to answer it by offering more of almost everything. There's more storage, more lighting, more audio, and more enthusiast-friendly features such as onboard buttons.

A clean look, sensible components locations, and best-in-class overclocking gives the Z270X-Gaming 7 a solid platform to build on. Whether it's worth a £75-£100 premium depends upon the kind of PC you're after. If it is truly premium, this board makes sense.

One of the things you pick up quick is that there is almost no real world difference between the new boards. All that is different and that will affect the end user is features and OC utilities and manufacturer support.
