Conclusion

A good selection of extras, granted, yet we'd prefer the WiFi to be integrated into the board...

Any motherboard company needs to be sensible when adding features over and above what Intel and AMD provides, especially on modern, tightly integrated chipsets.

The MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon AC is about £60 more expensive than the cheapest board in the company's 8th Gen arsenal, and for that you receive enhanced VRM cooling, improved audio, SLI support, dual M.2 with a dedicated heatsink, a second strengthened PCIe x16, USB 3.1 Gen 2, an Intel LAN, PCIe-riding WiFi and, of course, RGB lighting.

A good selection of extras, granted, yet we'd prefer the WiFi to be integrated into the board, though that really is it for our list of gripes.

Bottom line: even though Z370 pricing is higher than Z270 across the spectrum, anyone in the market for a midrange Coffee Lake-supporting board won't be disappointed with the MSI Carbon AC.
