Conclusion

Such commentary shouldn't take away from the fact that this is an excellent ultra-premium motherboard for the very well-heeled enthusiast...

Every so often a motherboard comes along that extends the boundaries of what's possible on a consumer platform. The Aorus X570 Xtreme is one of those boards. Its VRM and general power-delivery setup is without peer in the X570 chipset realm. 16 true phases, a brand-new Infineon controller and class-leading power stages all combine to outspecify every else on the market. Something has gone seriously wrong if the VRMs fail before other components.

But it's not all about power delivery. Aorus' design is also excellent. We like the rotated connectors, appreciate the lack of a chipset fan, reckon that most of the EATX board acts like a giant heatsink, and are impressed with the 10Gbps LAN and bountiful storage options.

If it sounds like we like this board, we do. It's overkill for all but the one per cent of enthusiasts who have the supporting hardware to do it justice, and if you're not heavily overclocking a Ryzen 9 CPU, the Aorus X570 Xtreme is wasted potential.

Such commentary shouldn't take away from the fact that this is an excellent ultra-premium motherboard for the very well-heeled enthusiast. Aside from a couple of layout tweaks, if you can afford it, it will take something special to topple this model off the top of the X570 charts.

Makes a 2080Ti look almost “keenly priced”. Although to be fair they aren't really aiming for that I know, but it's a serious chunk of change for a motherboard.
id love to see the cooling on a system that could push this board to the max.

Given the price, should Aorus have gone with at least one OLED display somewhere on the board?
Err…. hell, yeah…. Is this a trick question? :D

I really do like some of the design features on this board. It looks fantastic to do a build on.
Would be nice to see some more RGB, preferably in the form of removable modules and without illuminated branding/lettering (unless it's a swappable/customisable panel).
Would like to see this pushed to the limit, it would take something special.

Overall it is built to excess to have the best of everything but it does seem gigabytes x570 line up is one of the best, settled on the Pro myself.
That price is simply insane!
I wouldn't pay that much for a graphics card or processor let alone a motherboard. I remember when £100 was the cost of a high end board.
