Conclusion
Power delivery is robust, heatsinks extremely well-built, and enough onboard buttons and fans to sate enthusiasts' needs.ASRock woos the gamer with the PG Velocita line of boards. The latest entrant, Z590, is great in parts and merely average in others.
Let's start with the good. We like the general layout, colour scheme (surprisingly), and appreciate the attention paid to larger VGA cards through the bundled holder. Power delivery is robust, heatsinks extremely well-built, and enough onboard buttons and fans to sate enthusiasts' needs.
But we'd prefer a richer I/O panel, more 20Gbps USB, full-speed AVX by default, and a dual 2.5G networking suite from Intel.
We'd therefore recommend ASRock drop the price of this board down to, say, £250, given our conclusions. At that price point, with due consideration of the competition, the Z590 PG Velocita becomes decent instead of reasonable.
The Good The Bad Good power delivery, excellent cooling
Looks better in the flesh
Excellent perf for non-AVX workloads
That VGA bracket
Meagre USB 20Gbps
Strange AVX behaviour
Feels a tad expensive
