Conclusion

The unfettered potential of the 4K UHD resolution shines through as a workplace display or for an ultimate gaming setup.

A 40in UHD panel will, inevitably, be an expensive piece of kit and because of that the Philips BDM4065UC is something of a specialist product. Prospective buyers may, however, be surprised to find the price is currently just under the £700 mark which puts it on par with many IPS UHD monitors in the 28-32in size range.

The Philips BDM4065UC is an excellent panel for any discerning desktop user. Whether the advantages of the unscaled UHD resolution are to be purposed for gaming or productivity, the experience is equally as impressive. The chassis and stand within which the 40in panel is deployed in leaves something to be desired. Users are left pondering why Philips decided to repurpose a TV chassis rather than design a fit-for-purpose desktop stand with multiple adjustment options.

Stand limitations aside, the Philips BDM4065UC is a unique and attractive proposition for the PC user. The unfettered potential of the 4K UHD resolution shines through as a workplace display or as an ultimate gaming setup. The monumental size of the display will not be to everyone's tastes or needs, nonetheless there is certainly a market for this well-conceived display.

Main issue at the moment is getting hold of them. Stock to UK seems flaky.
